Thanks Gav! Hopefully we can begin to get more of the pensions digitised as the amount of info on this type of stuff in them is enormous

That's a good question! There's lots of work needed to find out things like that, most of the content is very socially focused- there is at least one Fenian in there but it will need deep digging into them on a local level for broader context. I am hoping we might get something going on that!

Thanks Sue! Not on this version though I do have all that on the "back end". Im hoping we might get enough interest to secure funding to create a much bigger interactivr platform people can interrogate further and hopefully even see the pension.

Thanks Éamann- I most people would definitely have come into contact with American pensioners alright, they were so widespread. Lots more than even those identified to locati9n on the map.

Thanks Nicholas! There is some amount of Belfast and hinterland pensions on there, I wasnt expecting quite so many. More to be uncovered as well. It will be no surprise to you that Andersonville tops the list of identified locations for pensions related to deaths in service.

These still represent only a small number of the total. Some 80% relate to the Civil War, but there are pensions associated with the Frontier Wars against Native Americans, the Mexican-American War, Spanish-American War and the Phillipine-American War. Feel free to share widely!
