I'm one of the ones who made this move. I made it a year before my company laid off the entire Bay Area native mobile team and spun it up again on another continent.

Fostering growth at high levels is challenging for an org when the technology creates natural silos.

A more niche one is a band called MAE, who released three EPs (morning/afternoon/evening) that were amazing when played back to back. Then they rereleased it as a single album and switched the order of the last two tracks, removing the EPs from Spotify!

When people would listen to ATMP from the years 1970 to 2010, they'd have to specifically put on the "Apple Jam" record after the main event. It's a different thing. Spotify just dumps you into it. Terrible.

Another album-playlist I have is the 2020 remix of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, minus the extra hour of meandering instrumental jams at the end. The remix makes the production feel more modern (and to me, listenable) without the generic Phil Spector feel.

On the other side, In Utero was remixed by the original crew (minus Kurt) for the 20th anniversary.

I made a playlist with both of these alternative mixes, adding back Polly to Nevermind: open.spotify.com/playlist/7lO...

For example, the last two Nirvana records have really nice alternative mixes. Nevermind was originally mixed by Butch Vig, the recording engineer, and then remixed for release. You can hear it on the "Super Deluxe Version," but it's missing Polly, which wasn't remixed.
