Alright, now that I've slept...

My band Chaos Fiction just released our album, Steady Nerves! I've played drums with them for a couple years, doing Bay Area shows and working on recording & mixing this thing. If you follow me here I really hope you'll give it a listen.

It's #procjam season, and I made this a few weeks ago, anticipating I wouldn't have time to do the jam live: irskep.itch.io/talk-to-trn5...

iPhone users must disable silent mode to get audio output! iOS web audio is a disaster and other platforms don't have to deal with the same limitations.

Music is basically a detective novel where the musicians are the suspects/criminals, the listener is the detective and of course the music is the crime. The listener tries to determine what happened and what was the motivation, while the musicians try to obscure this, so they can get away with it.

Nice article from @hearasingle.bsky.social today about considerations for truly-indie bands sending their stuff to curators.

Startup management constantly claims that people are compensated with "equity" (pre-IPO options) so they are "bought in" and "act like owners." But in my experience, people compensated with stock act *more* like company owners. Maybe because they are paid in assets, not dreams.

Does anyone else's Safari suck at connecting to the internet after sleep? I find I need to quit and relaunch Safari regularly in order to get web pages to load.

I just organized my Spotify playlists a bit, and realized I've been sitting on a couple things worth sharing.

As an album-oriented listener, I don't make many playlists. When I do, it's often to listen to albums better!

tomorrow, I won’t want to see anyone because I don’t want to get sick.

One of the thing I appreciate about the "I rewrote XYZ in Rust" crowd is they tend to stick together and interoperate to some degree. Mise and uv, for example. Whereas Python library authors just go to war.

There's a thread on the orange web site today about Mise (mise.jdx.dev), which is a toolchain installer + env manager + task runner. Glad to see it getting some visibility, because I love it! I was "forced" to use it by @tuist.dev and I look forward to doing more with it.

IDHAS has never used Spotify and almost 9 years in doesn't intend to. I've read a lot of valid reasons not to today, but ours is down to one thing really.

It is useless in aiding the new and under appreciated artists that we cover. It always has been and has got worse and worse.

Just started learning #hexarchy and in the first ten seconds it hits me how they've destroyed the usual 4X first-game decision paralysis by giving you a constant set of self-documenting possible actions to think about. Let's see if it holds up as things progress...

I've started listening to every track posted by @hearasingle.bsky.social. I love getting exposed to new stuff and sometimes there's a gem. But so many bands' drums sound like absolute ass and it's a deal breaker. :-(
