In the spirit of today’s festivities, I’m sharing a sneak peek full of ✨yearning✨ of a piece I had the pleasure of doing for @metalweavegames.com new project, How to GM Romance! AD’ed by the always incredible Nala J. Wu🥹🩵

Two women dressed in regency-style wear kiss passionately between the bars of a wrought iron garden gate. One women, with dark skin wears a sumptuous velvet red gown with puffy white sleeves and lacy trim, her curly dark hair is pinned with pearls, brooches inlaid with gems, and fluffy plumage. One hand clutches the shoulder of her lover, the other lingers on a stone barrier, holding a folded fan. The woman on the other side of the gate, of South Asian descent, wears a simple woven bonnet and a plain dress, her dark hair tumbles loosely down her back. One of her hands wraps around the waist of the woman in velvet clutching a single pale rose. Their expressions convey a sense of yearning, separated by barriers of rigid class expectations —their love is forbidden but inevitable. The hue of the piece is pinks and reds, the color of sinking sunsets and blushing cheeks.

Do you ever use these for drawing? I sit on the couch a lot (bad habit i know) while working and i’ve considering trying these so I don’t have to be craning my neck so often if I’m not at my desk—wasn’t sure it would be great to use with screens though.

If we want to get serious about addressing declining literacy rates in the US, we gotta stop shaming people for what and how they read. Speaking as someone who has personally struggled, shame is a sure fire way to kill any enthusiasm and curiosity toward reading, which kills any ambition to learn.
