There are lots of reasons why I think higher ed would be a better, richer place if more people who had a history of academic struggle became professors. The way I deal with cheating—and the tools I have for preventing, rather than punishing, it—are a big example.

Story about as old as time, the US trained compradors to do horrific things on their behalf to their national brothers and sisters (who they in many cases already had grudges towards) and then spat on these compradors and they feel betrayed. Turns out they keep those skills to do horrific things.

It's only a matter of time before humanities departments will be forced to accept AI-authored assignments, as part of revised university policy to cooperate with these billionaires. It's already happening, and our response needs to be decisive. Because our students' ability to *think* is at stake.
