People will never stop rationalizing their basic impulse to ignore or reject things that make them uncomfortable. The excuses will never stop, and neither will their reasoning stay consistent. One second you’re too rigid, the next you’re a hypocrite b/c you eat food or use money enjoy something.

They won’t be a legit contender until they do, or unless Leonard or another prospect blooms into a genuine superstar. The Canes, themselves not really there yet, utterly exposed the Caps overall lack of speed and skill. This squad is good, but will never be great. Its ceiling is a 2nd round exit.

The fact that there’s one name (a 4th line forward) that wasn’t here last year highlights what a failure this offseason was from a GM perspective. For several years, the caps have acknowledged publicly that they need to trade for a true top-line talent, but have proven they are unwilling to do it.—

In a prior life, for 5 years, I was Pizzapants, an elemental Tauren Shaman on Mannoroth, GM of the Bloodcült of Oktopos, putting in way too many hours grinding rep, running AH schemes, and herding sheep from Onyxia through Arthas. Got to max level when Cataclysm dropped and just burnt out and quit.
