I wish I could take over a company, kill a couple of its finished products that the public actually wants for the tax write-off, raise prices on a few other products, then sell the whole thing to a competitor after four years and retire a billionaire.

And why is it always exactly $12B? No adjusting for the “out of control Biden-flation™️” over the last seven years?

I read it as "Kid Scorner" at first and oh god is that what the Clay Men are?

The GOP has created the word "Wastefraudenabuse" to justify every action they want to take. Deportations, food stamp cuts, Medicaid cuts, health care 'reform', agency budget cuts.

It's all because of Der Wastefraudenabuse.

It's like Judith Light's agent says in TICK TICK BOOM:

"You start writing the next one.
And after you finish that one, you start on the next.
And on and on, and that's what it is to be a writer, honey."

(this line absolutely wrecks me every time)

Of all the great lines in this one, I hear Weaver’s “Why are these acrylic?!?” in my mind all the time.

One other thing I'll add: the ACA Marketplaces are ALREADY set up so that you can shop and compare plans relatively easily.

And the subsidies ALREADY go straight to consumers. They just don't get it in the form of a check. And they have to pay it back if their income passes a certain level.

The only real solution, the solution every other major country in the world has already adopted in some way, is to cover everyone in the same plan. The risk pool is huge, the costs are shared by all. And no medical bankruptcies or deaths due to lack of coverage.

Bottom line, you can't 'free market' price health insurance because consumers don't know what they need.

You can't start putting people into 'sick buckets' with specific insurance for their specific needs because the risk pools will price most people out.
