it's funny though, that "playing" feels like more effort than being creative, isn't it? don't feel the same way about super mario world fsreason

& even at this age he keeps that childlike expression of joy, when sitting at the piano, playing a theme and talking about music. Kinda wish those scene would've been longer, but well.. would probably bore any non-musician audience to hell sadly.

Okay. It's not just offset, the short scalar run is also upwards in Zelda and not downwards like in Star Wars, but I'm really freaked out by never having noticed that similarity lol

It's fine for ohb's and writing that is supposed for learning and practice.

However, when writing with a release in mind I really should focus more on creating this connection. Music that has fulfilled expectations has a much more natural allowance to .. "go out there", it seems.

When writing music I'm not thinking enough about creating a connection with listeners

This is cause most of my music is created out of curiosity and exploration, rather than having a listener in mind. The only listener I have in mind is myself, and there is no connection required. It alrdy exists

1st Gnossienne!!

Compared to improv over I IV V - improvising basic motives and melodies just over a root pedal felt way more inviting and yielded more satisfying results, yet didn't feel like the thing I'm looking for.

Felt more like the way it would be done for film scoring? Fourths and Fifths are strong here!

I'm also still quite rusty on the keys, so I'm basically only oom-pah'ing & arp'ing all of the LH in quite simple chord voicings when improvising, also to remain simple and basic, which is my goal.

Day 2 Update:

So, I got a few basic ideas down yesterday.
I'm gonna continue playing & writing.

Coming up with melodies that satisfy me over a simple C, F, G chord progression is not easy. Skill issue or did humanity just do everything there is under this most basic of progressions?
