The MA legislature is discussing requiring K-12 schools use the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. It's a bad idea, so I asked School Committee candidates for their thoughts.

Here are answers from nine of the candidates:

Anyone know of unionized print shops that I can order printed material from _without_ having to "email or call for a quote"

Any suggestions for good companies to do heat pump installation?

I know there was some discussion here but I forgot to bookmark it, and this instance doesn't have search.

Broadway is a dangerous street for people walking and biking. The City plans to install separated bike lanes + other safety improvements in 2025-26. However, the "Save Broadway Parking Coalition" wants to kill this project.

The weird thing about Harvard being in the news is that I keep seeing random photos of my neighborhood on news sites.

Today was spent running around Harvard campus looking for a misdelivered package, refreshing the site where Canadian legal rulings are posted, and finding fun software bugs. How was your day?

For the second time (at least? maybe I'm forgetting something, like a throwaway reference in a Pychon novel) in 20+ years my knowledge of Jewish mysticism is helping me understand some cultural references in media.

The last time was how Katamari Damacy is really just Lurianic Kabbalah in […]

The Trump regime is cutting funding across government. Cambridge's response: we don't have the money to mitigate these cuts.

In fact, it wouldn't cost much more in taxes to cover the shortfall. The problem is political, not fiscal.

Cambridge’s fiscal policy: a reflexive surrender to the Trump regime
Raising property taxes is necessary, inexpensive… and unless we act, politically unthinkable.

I know of no less than SIX really great schools that badly need HS and MS math teachers in NYC.

There has been an uptick in vacancies as many people are moving closer to family and other such things. Not as bad as in 2020 but staffing at schools is a bit of an issue now.
