This is the main issue I have with so much of the coverage around e-bikes. It's not that there aren't legitimate issues. But there is a panic around e-bikes and crickets regarding the daily toll of cars. And that's because the harm of cars is just accepted. It's baked into our society.

In one of Sayers novels, written in 1920s, I think there's a brief mention of an official who wants to keep windows open cause of influenza season, and it feels like it's part of a caricature to make him look silly. But the impacts of the War are taken much more seriously in her books.

When I say kidnapped, I mean that Israel is, according to international law, currently abducting citizens of multiple countries including multiple elected representatives of European countries, Israel’s ‘allies’.

A lormer mign ranking Un foreign and Commonwealth Office official said in a post on X that Israel's interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla is "plainly illegal."
Craig Murray, who served as the British ambassador to Uzbekistan from 2002 to 2004, said that Israel did not have proper jurisdiction to intercept and detain members of the flotilla.
Murray also provides further legal analysis, claiming that Israel's actions are considered to be a genocide of the Palestinian people, and that Israel's blockade "is plainly a part of the machinery of such genocide."
Murray also says that, due to the vessels being on international waters, Israel directly attacked the nations that had deployed the boats. "The Metropolitan Police and DPP have an obligation to investigate and act over the abduction of persons from UK flagged vessels on the High Seas," Murray writes.

The Global Sumud Flotilla never entered Israeli waters.

They are in international waters attempting to reach Palestinian waters.

That's a clear platform. Cut taxes, but also lots of money for police so gotta cut social spending (so Healy redux). And "common sense" means "everything I believe is correct by definition so I require no evidence or research". Healey is probably better there in that she does learn new ideas.

Which types of finance were you thinking of? Definitely seems like (from listening to e.g. Money Stuff podcast) that the center of gravity inside finance has (at some point in the past) shifted decisively to private equity from banks.
