GOP is now also "Guardians Of Pedophiles"

Folks complained about the cost of #Thanksgiving this year, but for #ItalianAmericans, Christmas Eve IS our Thanksgiving. So I hope that all of those undereducated “considered White because of the Knights of Columbus” (look it up) wops who voted for the child rapist choke on their tuna salad. 2/2

We'll never get this chance now, and this loss is just one of many that I've been grieving over the past 24 or so hours.

This was always my greatest hope for Rob Reiner, a master storyteller who transcended genre, audience, and style: that he would be asked by Democratic leadership to take those incredible skills and use them as he had for so many other left-leaning causes to help the Democrats craft *their* story.

The irony is that the Democrats have on their side some of THE GREATEST STORYTELLERS EVER KNOWN, so it always baffled me why they'd never leverage those resources to craft a better story, a more inclusive story, a hopeful rather than a fearful story.

The @democrats.org, on the other hand, have always emphasized the nuance and the complexity of the realities of a broken system, but cannot seem to find a way to sell that message as a simple, clear story.

Their simplistic messaging has given them leverage precisely *because* it ignores the nuance that lies just beneath the surface.

From Reagan's "shining city on a hill" to Bush I's "No New Taxes," they know how to communicate a simple (and easily 'digestible') message to the masses--even when those messages are fairy tales--designed to appeal to a childlike (and in modern cases, childISH) intelligence.

When looking at the political landscape of the United States in my lifetime, one of the things that angers me most is that the Right, especially the Republican Party, has always been better than the Left (and especially the Democrats) at TELLING A SIMPLE STORY.

He SHOWED UP and used his time, talent, and celebrity to highlight injustices in our system.

Rob was, like his famous character on "All in the Family," a lifelong liberal and, by all accounts, put his money where his mouth was. He supported hundreds, if not thousands, of liberal causes throughout his life, and he made it personal.
