If you dislike something or it makes you uncomfortable, that’s okay! But you don’t need to let the creator know. You don’t need to let anyone know, honestly. You can just ignore it and move on with your life. Fandom is about enjoying the things you like, not bashing the things you hate.

Because *feeling* unsafe is both currently AND historically filled with biases and oppression.

Discomfort is not harm, and if you're made uncomfortable by the work of a total stranger who does not know you exist, you can just process on your own and move on. You do not need to make it anyone's "fault" and no one needs to be "held accountable" for it.

I’ve clearly been sitting on this for a long time, I just think it’s so frustrating to only deal in a character somehow doing Right and Wrong, when it’s more fascinating to ask Why, and then see what kind of a world is created that such things could happen to begin with.
