As he is a global phenomenon, most people know him but if not I would check out his songs! As not only the viral ones but all of his songs are well produced and cheekily thought of.

Whereas some critique him, by many he is praised. Not to mention his ‘uncle’ like look mixed with portraying his culture makes him even more liked, not just within Asia.

At the same time it went viral in China itself. He mostly caught a lot of attention by rapping in a combination of Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka. Which for many made the lyrics feel strange, as I’ve also been told by some of my native Chinese friends. However still praising him for his work.

Although he is famously known in 2025, 2024 was the most important year for him as he brought out an album that had three songs reaching high popularity overseas. Overseas it went viral for mostly likely its catchy beats and rhythms while most westerners didn’t understand a single word.

Therefore when looking at the impact, it’s good to not only see the good side of representation but also the reality of this profit motive.

This ‘greed’ of companies, might miscommunicate messages or create problems because of their disinterest and neglect of the original meaning of media products, reflecting the importance of identifying as a part of the LGBTQ+ minority groups.

This in turn made the industry bigger, to what it is today. However this might also wake the incentive of companies wanting to purely make money of this well profiting industry. As seen below that the spending of LGBTQ minorities in just Asia exceeds billions of dollars.

For example, the French series ‘WAKFU’ which used the characteristics of Anime and Manga. Tried to create a bridge between acceptance of anime culture and western attitudes towards Japan. By combining aspects from both sides, introduction to non-fans can become easier.

Looking more to the West, there’s different opinions from different sides. Some state that the style is rather ‘too playful’ and childish, stating that it is only watched by geeks and ‘those grown ups still live at home”. However recently it has become more accepted but in an adjusted way.

That it is a way for South Korea to get rid of memories regarding the traumatising event of the Japanese invasion. Even though there stay tensions from both sides. Thereby highlighting that it has influence on historical traumas.

However not all countries think the same way about Japan’s cultural production. For example in comparison to its fellow East Asian Country, South Korea. As mentioned in the following article: www.bbc.com/culture/arti...
Did manga shape how the world sees Japan?
As the largest exhibition of manga outside of Japan opens at London’s British Museum, Christine Ro looks at how the visual narrative artform influenced the globe.

But doesn’t that perhaps make it dangerous? Seeing as it is quite far from the average

Thereby, hopefully realising that certain actions, such as critiquing “fake” idols (who have real artists), fantazising animated standards and over consuming this fake reality, might have a bigger impact than we experience in a short term.

Arguing all in all not just to put the blame on the fandom, human idol or the virtual but rather pointing out that we have got to be careful with the amount of energy we put into certain interest and opinions.
November 18, 2025 at 3:36 AM
Not to forget the fandom itself that also get influenced by these Virtual idols. Although they might be the cause of neglecting and putting standards on Human idols, they themself might lose this possibility of emotionally connecting to idols if in the future we might rely more on virtual idols.

Giving an enormous pressure to look similar to characters who do not really struggle with real life difficulties or work hard for creating this body other than the artist which is working hard on drawing them, which is quite impossible and a weird comparison to start with.

For example, this picture I found on Facebook comparing the “perfect” DRAWN abs of SAJA boys’ Abby to the hard working idol abs of the former Monsta X member. With many comments under it stating things similar to this comment “The abs doesn’t look the same the real life is so flat”.
