French President Emmanuel Macron said Bloch would be honored 'for his work, his teaching and his courage.' Bloch was executed by the Gestapo in 1944.

On February 19th, 1945 elements of the 4th and 5th Marine Divisions land on Iwo Jima. That's me (many moons ago) when I had a chance to visit Iwo. Mt Suribachi is behind me. I'm at the other end of the island.
