Also: we need our nation’s top ethnographers studying the Chicagoland Quadpoint immediately. It does feel intuitively correct that four different flavors of Midwest converge somewhere outside Chicago.

I am from 31 and the boundaries here feel just about right. Duluth feels familiar to me in a way that eg Grand Rapids doesn’t.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Dot didn’t have to go as hard as she did with her pretzel twists, but thank God she did. Changed the snack game forever.

I recall some posts that made it abundantly clear that the distance was not always long, that her wealthy husband was cool with it, and that this all was—as you say—very much all of our business.

I feel like "objective reality exists and we can experience it" is one of the strongest points of agreement for the left-liberal coalition at this point.

We're also all forgetting (agreeing to forget?) that the drama around those donations ended with her joining GFM's polycule. Well, not on my watch.

They should publish a beautiful Adrian Chiles coffee table book that's just the headlines
All you can eat? I take those words as a promise - and a challenge Naked, smelly and bleeding, all I wanted from the world was some hot water. But the shower had other ideas I'm on nine pills a day now - and I'm not even what you might call ill Computers I can live with, but printers I hate from the bottom of my heart

Same! And this was not a lady who was allergic to work. But figure out where it’s actually worthwhile to work hard and where you’re just torturing yourself.

Browning is one of my go-to examples for “pros are different.” I watched him a bunch running a passing spread for one of the local HS powers here. He was Godlike. And he’s also a sub-replacement level pro.

I wonder if the trads have ever talked to any actual 1950s housewives. My grandma had five kids in the 50s and 60s, disposable diapers only being available for the last couple.

She could not understand why we were even CONSIDERING cloth diapers. And after two months we knew that she was right.

(But also: being fair about this never stopped grocery price discourse under Biden so I’ll be damned if it stops me now.)

Just our regular Sacramento area chain. To be fair, family size box. Think the regular one was 4.75 or something.

Groceries this AM noticeably more expensive than they were a month ago. You can still do ok at Costco (for now?) but a regular chain grocery store, forget about it. $6.50 for a single box of Triscuits, things of that nature.
