this is the most traffic has been obstructed by the portland ice facility and it’s because they roped off the whole city block with yellow tape so kristi noem and her streamer friends could film their little content. they are long gone but the tape remains

no, these guys are probably in perfectly adequate shape for their normal duties. but if you can't sprint in gear while wearing a gas mask you aren't much use on a riot line

people can be in great shape and not wildly impressive sprinters. and your ability to sprint quickly is not the most or only important quality in modern warfare. But if your job is chasing people who are running away from you and not wearing 60 lbs of gear yes speed matters.

I'm not speaking at all about morality, I have no reason to believe marshals are better people than any other group (although let's safely assume BORTAC are the worst). I'm purely discussing their physical and technical competence.

i mean it's a simple fact that larger and heavier people, especially wearing armor, are not as fast. that's one reason why (for example) boxers will warn newbies from putting on too much muscle mass. weight tends to slow you down.

that's normally a border patrol gig. marshals aren't generally used for normal policing type actions, they're there to hunt down people with warrants.

i am a fair man and i can honestly say out of all the feds and cops i saw in 2020 the only ones who scared me for a reason beyond "they have weapons and legal impunity" were the Marshals. sometimes i still have nightmares about being chased by those fuckers.

also none of these fuckers can run for shit in full battle rattle. if you want the guys who are actually scary as fuck on the ground, that's the U.S. Marshals. i have never seen anyone move that fast in full gear. they absolutely smoked the BORTAC chumps.

Like Zeskind is the kind of influential where probably 70% of the people whose work he helped shape don't know they owe him a debt of gratitude. I don't believe in making statues of people but he'd be on my short list of deserving recipients.
