Pleased to see residents have been out clearing the leaves. We are very lucky to have so many street and garden trees in Moseley but keeping the leaf fall out of drains and off pavements is a big job so it’s welcome that the community are helping out.

German market was buzzing tonight with happy people on my way home from the council house.
Looking forward to visiting next week with my grandson.
We have so much to be proud of in Brum.

We’ll ask for the leaves to be cleared.
We have quite a long list of roads we are asking for leaves to be cleared!
The good news is we have been advised Wake Green Road between Yardley Wood Road and Church Rd is scheduled for resurfacing in February next year.

This morning Cllr Philip, Cllr dog Mason and I checked the drains on Wake Green Road near to Lench’s Close, where it flooded yesterday. We have taken photos and will ask for them all to be flushed out. We’ve also reported some bad pot holes near to the Warwick Court bus stop.

Very pleased the council is installing CCTV in Green Road at the ford & at the entrance to the recreation ground after numerous incidents of fly tipping, including in the river itself.
Flytipping costs £1000’s to clear up & is hugely damaging to the environment.
Let’s hope they catch someone.

I attended the first meeting of Friends of Bradford St community forum tonight. It made me think this must be how some of the groups in Moseley began years ago. It’s great to see residents & businesses coming together to support and shape their area rather than leaving it to faceless corporations.

Lots of people are asking me if I’ve voted yet! So, yes I have.
But I also wanted to take some time to remember my former colleague Kerry Jenkins & why this by election is taking place.

So chuffed to hear King’s Heath Park garden nursery is to be saved from closure. This u turn is absolutely down to significant community opposition and a petition of almost £5000 signatures.
Thank you to everyone who helped with this campaign, especially the Parks friend’s groups. #communitypower

I was there this morning and made another report on @fixmystreet.bsky.social . I’ll get a reference number and chase it again.

I saw the waste containers in Pitmaston Court and outside Hamsa Mosque haven’t been emptied, so I’ll report them for collection.
I also checked on some land in Sandford Rd where there is often fly tipping. Some building work has begun there so I shall check that out with planning.

Canvassing today in Church Rd & later in Moor Green Lane area for our great by election candidate Philip Mills.
Noticed a keep left bollard had come away from the base & blown into the road, so I reported it on @fixmystreet.bsky.social
It’s a really good app for getting small jobs like this fixed

Today at @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social full council meeting councillors cross party came together to endorse the Brum United against Racism & Hate Crime campaign.
Now, more than ever we need to send the message Brummies stand united. There is no place for racism, hate or division in our city

Lovely afternoon cutting the ribbon on Moor Green Allotments newly refurbished Russell Rd gate and attending the Autumn produce show. I especially enjoyed that we have updated the photo taken 70 years ago, when the gates were first opened by a group of men in suits.

Positive joint visit to meet residents in Woodnorton Drive, Moseley this morning, with the local housing officers, community safety & police teams following a shooting incident last month. Lots of issues raised but also good conversations about setting up a residents group and better communication.

Big shout out to the council waste management team for collecting two ‘dolavs’ of rotting meat dumped at Green Road Ford.
It turns out the dolavs were stolen from a farm in Yorkshire several years ago. Someone didn’t want to pay to properly dispose of the meat so dumped it without a thought. 😡

I am devastated today to hear that my ward colleague and friend, @kerryjenkins.bsky.social has passed away.
Kerry was an incredible person, kind, clever, generous, empathetic, hard working and totally committed to both her community and her family…

Out at school end with the junior PCSO’s at SS John & Monica School, Chantry Rd Moseley. They spoke to parents parking outside the school and issued two warning ‘tickets’ to people seen blocking drives.
Afterwards, I enjoyed looking at the pupils art exhibition in the school.

Well done to Severn Trent this morning. They turned out within an hour to a blocked drain. It had overflowed in the heavy rain and flooded the nearby pub and alley with 🤢smelly water contaminated with oil and grease. The case will now be referred to @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social to investigate.
