I think a lot about the idea of technology, and what it means to different people and generations.

I’m seeing posts where people (I assume younger) make assumptions about Film being a panacea for truth/authenticity in the face of Sora etc.

As a fourty-something, I’m here to answer your questions.

But, as a creative that does freelance work (not wedding photography), rates are down, and plenty of customers (the younger, the more common) won’t go past social media to look at a portfolio 🤷‍♂️. In the 80s you’d go to a studio and look, or the photographer would bring their book to a meeting.

Absolutely! I have compression fractures in my spine from an old
snowboard injury, and if I let my core get out of shape, everything starts cracking and aching.

💯 on the stretching & gym.
Gotta up those. And more dexterity in my left 🫲 . I’ve gone from only working on my own stuff a few hrs/wk to typing 10k words most days + 2-3 hours of editing/grading, and boy are my arms tired! (And tingly).
I stand & sit, but more changes + new desk are in the works.

I’m a little long in the tooth to pay for exposure on my experimental work, and get that arts funding in the US is basically $0. But it always feels crass to promise something worth nothing (online viewing) when asking for money, and not even come out and say how much.

When seeing Clockers as a High School student, I didn’t really know about shooting film, an it wasn’t something I would have guessed would be one of my major endeavors in life. Sayeed’s work just hit me, I knew it was special. Seeing Belly later, his eye was impeccable. Glad he’s back in the show.

I spent some time growing up rural, and I’ll always associate Greenwood with going to Gymkhana, which in my hole-in-the-wall town meant barrel racin’ and calf ropin’. They played that damn song right after Francis Scott Keys’ ode to war, every year.
