Today was just the courthouse; the big celebration will be next year ☺️

A lot of things happened in our lives in the last years. We couldn’t have done it without each other.

Our three daughters (6, 9, 12) are also happy about our patch work family, which makes this extra easy 😊

We are (well, Kristina is) installing a lighting kit into the falcon. Compared to assembling the falcon, this is super finicky and a ton of work. Can’t wait to see the finished result. But boy does this look painful.

I believe he means that this thread is an example where someone on on the left posted something that isn’t accurate.

Personally, I believe there is lies/untruths on both sides, but one side is demonstrably way worse (especially MAGA but sadly also many mainstream republicans).

I live in a country where truth has a liberal bias.

As someone who voted for conservatives (before moving to the US) I consider this bad. We need sanity and truth on both sides.

In the US, the crazies are mostly on the right and sadly they have taken the mainstream right hostage.

FWIW, I find the idea that pointing out inaccuracies on “my side” (your words) to be tantamount to treason deeply problematic. It leads to the kind of hypocrisy I see on the right all the time.

Values matter because we hold them even when it’s inconvenient.

What makes you think I don’t criticize them? In fact I talk a great deal more about them because I believe that the right in the US is far more untethered from truth than the left. I have often bemoaned media for trying to both side this issue. Receipts below.

First of, I’m hardly a defender of the right or Fox News specifically.

But the entire context of this thread is truth. In this context it should matter that attributing this quote to Goebbels is problematic. Especially because the argument doesn’t need it.

I wish Britain, France, and Germany, as the countries with the largest GDP would lead Europe. Agreement among them is key, leading by example to raise everybody’s boat.

Europe needs more unity on the big picture, more willingness to stop arguing over small stuff in order to align things to get more things done as a whole.
Brexit and other anti-europe voices (like the AfD, even when ignoring their far right issues) are ultimately to each country’s detriment.

When it comes to defense, I’ve had a bad feeling when Merz said he wants Germany to have the best military. That’s a bit too reminiscent of our problematic past.

But being an industry leader, a leader in trade, or a policy leader that fosters collaboration and agreement in Europe is much needed.

As a German, I agree with the sentiment. But as someone who has lived in the US for about 15 years it’s also true that Europe is often looking at the countries with the biggest GDP for leadership. Germany is that, but historically careful, which is sometimes good, sometimes bad.
