I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

I would respect AI more if it said “no” more often.

“Generate this skeevy picture” No.

“Make a creepy video with this girls face” No.

“Summarize this article that I should read and understand myself, but I wont” No.

Until AGI reaches that point of self awareness, my respect level will be nil.

This drives me a little nuts - why do people think that Aloy making a romantic connection would mean suddenly having to fit her life to match their expectations? Pretty sure if you get with the savior of the whole fucking world, you're on her schedule, and you're grateful for it.

Many a time did meat-eaters try to pass off meat/animal only to then say “wasn’t that good, tho?!” like I wouldn’t check/notice, thinking they were scoring some kind of victory point or, worse, proclaiming we “couldn’t tell”/“secretly liked it”. Y’all do realize that’s like, not the *point* right?

Somebody told me the other day that being anti-AI/anti-LLM art was like “being a vegetarian <derogatory>”

And as someone who was a vegetarian for many years in the American south, I kinda think it’s an apt description than not. Whether you are a dietary- or ethical-vegetarian.

How do you like to enjoy music?

I like listening to albums. Often I don't know the names of individual songs. When I find a song I really like I want to listen to the rest of the album. If I am a fan of a band I'll want to know about their discography.

I have a vinyl collection.

“…because I wanted it that way” should be a totally valid and definitive response anytime anyone asks any artist/writer/creative why something is the way that it is, and not some other way, in the work that they have created.

bleak. $150/hr to feed a shredder. on the plus side, i really do think stochastic modelling will never produce a good story, ever, no matter how many good stories you throw at it, so if you need the money you should take it. But also -- make sure you put the word aubergine in every story. Teach that

Glad I got to stop in there recently and save a couple of CRTs, optical drives, and some shareware.
