I’m learning now, though, and every day I see a man, it does unsettle me still. But I’m seeing less and less. Idk where I was going with this, but that scene came to mind again this morning and got me thinking.

But I think the fact that I turned on the light to see a man’s face at all was the real horror, for me. I never liked the way I looked. I didn’t know how to change it. What did ‘men’ do to their appearance? Other than shaving, I never learned how to make my face look like I cared about my appearance

For a long time, I feared that happening to me; turning on the light in the bathroom to see a man’s face I didn’t recognize screaming at me, or anything that wasn’t what I recognized as myself in the mirror. I would flee as well.
