I'm increasingly grumpy about it (can you tell?? 😁), so once it's a bit clearer I hope there's some sort of patient advocate/spokesperson, especially since there's now going to be an enquiry. Will be interesting to see what happens. Thanks for your updates 👍🏻

Wonder what patient options will be to insist MMH provide/fund counselling or support for affected patients. Would it be ACC/medical misadventure or is that a stretch? Coordinate as a group and get a lawyer ..... ?

I'm a bit worried that patients with mental health issues will find out their records were compromised and it could be the final straw for some. I hope not, but assume that's a risk.

Same. Seems a major fail in comms that they haven't contacted all individuals who are on MMH to let us know it happened and updates

Yeah and it took the company 2 days to contact the police once they received the threat. Did they think they had the skills to manage it in-house? Just ring the experts!

And at least it was discovered in Auckland and not in Singapore. Like you say, probably exploited and while she needs to be charged at least here the penalty can recognise the situation

I'm somewhat surprised that we haven't had individual notification to users. Big fail. Also, weird that the hackers only asked for $60k. Seems very modest!

Still no direct communication with patients. There'll still be lots of people unaware of the whole saga because holidays/not following the news - an email or two to users would have been appreciated

No - still go. Family first, more important than objecting to their dreadful political situation. Could also have some really interesting conversations with the locals on their perspective because it's hard to know their views from here.

I heard about this a few months ago, such an awesome discovery. And potential to lead into other treatments. Huntington's is just awful, any glimmer of hope is welcome but this is a huge advance

They do have good public transport and cycle networks. But yes, every time I go to Christchurch you arrive sooner because the southern boundary has moved further out.

So what - some people spend a bit to dress nicely. Also, she looks like the type who would be very crafty at finding bargains/thrifting and scoring some awesome options.

The article in Stuff specifically mentions WellSouth info, so presumably some local Dunedin files found. Sigh. I guess my dark web data hasn't had an update for a while so it was about time they stole something.....

I assume that the info I can access when I log into MMH is only some of the info there. Presumably the medical centre has more in there that they can see - so I'm guessing the hackers could have more than we expect as patients

Still here!! It is very quiet in the neighborhood though, could be standard New Year in Dunedin (ie. everyone relocated to Central) or maybe end of the world stuff. Will figure it out after breakfast and coffee.

I am not up to speed on the details, is it supposed to be a midnight occurrence? Just so I can be prepared. I may not even bother tidying up after dinner if a tidy kitchen is not going to be an issue in the morning
