I've driven Shafer road. It's not one to take lightly any time of year, but definitely gets snowy in the shadows of the switchbacks. Tough news for sure.

notably inaccurate (along with the majority of L&C depictions) is that they're in frontiersman garb, rather than the military uniforms they actually wore, the entire gd trip.
