ah, didn't realise the context for this tweet was to a fan which, to be fair, makes it more explicable. of all the horrible things JK has ever done, and there are many, this is on the "just a bit silly" side of the scale. still cringe but not quite as bad as I thought it was

imagine a cheery BBC news report in 1938 breezily asking "which countries could be in Hitler's sights after the Sudetenland?"

imagine if you broke into your neighbour's house, beat them up and imprisoned them in your basement and the BBC's reaction was "ooh, risky"

the fact that this character in Zootropolis 2 was not voiced by Brian Cox feels illegal

I don't know why but the BBC's video playlist where they take random scenes from shows and caption them like this really makes me laugh. "tfw u call the midwife"

actually it feels a bit like the discovery of radium - it did change the world in a specific area but attempts to sell it to the wider public as a health product were disastrous (see this radium chocolate bar from the 1930s...)

Oh sure kids, the Greens SOUND cool, with their "no more war" and "hey everyone, let's smoke a doobie", but they're not living in the REAL world. in the real world, we starve children and ban trans people from Girl Guiding because the Daily Mail told us to. it's called MATURE GOVERNMENT

"is this cool, The Greens? Am I cool? Hmm? Do I look cool? Do I? Do I? DO I?!"

A show I was writing on this year had a bunch of AI academics come in to talk to us, and they said the uses of AI (if indeed it is a real single thing) should be limited to things that are dirty, dull or dangerous for humans to do (dull like this data entry here), and that makes sense to me! BUT...

absolute infuriating breathless nonsense - it's that classic thing where all technological developments are lazily and maliciously lumped together as AI to push it as a monolith
