My daughter and her husband are in NYC for Thanksgiving holiday. They’ve been invited to Sunday brunch at the very tony and exclusive Metropolitan Club by her husband’s relative. I asked her to take pix, but she said the private club has a strict "no technology" rule, i.e., no phones or cameras. 🤷‍♂️

We had a lot of food, esp. the assortment of desserts, but the sushi/ sashimi appetizers were a good wat to start out last night’s family Thanksgiving feast.

Oh, I forgot to attach the Black Friday offer I got, which I think I’ll skip, although I’m tempted. 😉

I’ve also given thought to replacing my Ninja Foodi grill/air fryer and my toaster to get a Ninja Flip countertop 10-in-1 (e.g., air fryer, toaster, toaster, broiler, etc.). Saves on counter space, and the other 2 appliances are starting to age.

I make such good breakfasts at home that I find it difficult to go out for breakfast/brunch.🤷‍♂️

It’s at times like these that we need an unexpected hero, much like a modern-day Martha Mitchell who can spur the convictions of corrupt politicians for crimes like perjury, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and other similar transgressions.

4 years ago, I was honored to attend a National Gala in Washington, DC to accept a Congressional Gold Medal, awarded posthumously, on his behalf, recognizing his and other Chinese American veterans for distinguished service during WWII. The article below provides some context to the 14th Air Force.

Today is Veterans Day, and I want to give recognition to my father.

My dad was Yin Hoi Young, an immigrant to the U.S. from the Guangzhou area of China. Between 1943-46, he served in the 1544th Ordnance Company, 14th Air Force/ US Army Air Forces, in the China Burma India Defensive during WWII.

This reminds me… last night, before going to sleep, I was listening to this audiobook and for some reason thought, “Kat might have said that.” I had recommended to you some time back.

This is truly an adorable photo of you, Coop… those eyes! I’m listening to the audiobook of the below book ⬇️. I think you might like it.

For ~30 yrs, Neil Young hosted an annual benefit concert for The Bridge School (SF Bay Area), school for children w/ severe speech & physical impairments. I particularly loved the 2011 (25th anniversary) concert. All day affair. I had VIP tix — free (good) food; private restrooms.

Book recommendation for you…

Twelve years ago today, I didn’t have anything better to do than to have another cafe’ noisette at a sidewalk cafe on Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris.

One that I’ve just started, on audiobook, is this one. You might like it too. Published last year.

I’m not reading what you’re reading but will soon be starting this book ⬇️. You might have heard about it and might have an interest.

How normal is this sort of White House renovation?

Stop being a wuss — you’re encouraging the notion that we Californians are cupcakes. 😆 It could be worse… my daughter’s lived in Chicago for about 10 yrs. Some winters are just not fun. 😆

Before embarking on the Chicago #NoKings event today, my daughter participated in the Street Vendor Bike Tour. The idea is to buy out items from street vendors and lessen exposure to ICE thugs on the street. She got home w/ tamales, peaches, nectarines, and mangoes.

This article on consumer car payment defaults was brought to my attention by a former banking industry colleague I know, a senior executive in consumer credit/ risk management. He was kind enough to summarize the key points in the article:

It’s the first blustery rainstorm of the season today, so I pulled out a dragonfruit to pretend I’m in the tropics. 🌴🌺

Did I ever show you this memento from my trip?👇 I also loved Halifax, e.g., my outing to Peggy’s Cove, where I had a lobster lunch. 😋

I love escargots! From my last trip to Paris. My friend, the same who dislikes the idea of sashimi or anything tartare, even had one. It was the last one she’s had.
