Note that the Chief Judge of the 11th circuit, William Pryor - good friend of Clarence Thomas - denied Mark Meadows' bid to move his Fulton County case to federal court because the executive does not have any role in the administration of elections.
Trump’s new EO on voting exceeds his power—elections are conducted by the states. Congress, not Trump, has the power to legislate national standards they have to follow. So why would he do this? It’s about voter suppression & making it more difficult for people like you & me who oppose him to vote.
Trump just signed an exec order purporting to require a passport (or a few other docs) to register to vote. The president doesn't have the power to override a law passed by Congress. This is the SAVE Act but much worse. It is an illegal power grab that would block tens of millions from voting.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.
