This past Tuesday was the 115th anniversary of the death of Carl Etherington, an Anti Saloon League agent deputized to clean up the town of Newark, Ohio, the wet county seat of a dry county. Etherington and other agents were confronted and attacked by angry bargoers and chased out of town.

Weirdly, the first homer of the game was hit by an American League pitcher--Dave Burba went deep in the 5th.

Even when most of the other locations converted to the more craft-focused Joann Etc store model decades ago, the Heath store was still an old style fabric shop. It's been a number of years since I set foot in it, so it may be different now, but it was always so much different than their other stores
