the entire point of protesting is putting your body at risk to show the state you aren’t afraid of them. if one’s personal risk tollerance is at or near zero, they should find other ways to help their community besides protesting. i want the cops to know my name as i call them unlovable dorks

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
An unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume angrily confronted Santa Clara city officials during a joint meeting of the City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority on Monday, using his public comment to condemn the city’s stance on cooperation with ICE.

The left needs to drop the obsession with being cool and start one with winning

And if they’re going to kick anyone out, it should be the people who value the former over the latter.

This is the equivalent of demanding that Tesla be required to put airbags in their cars as a response to the autopilot running people over
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the party agreed on three main goals:

° Require warrants in some cases and ICE coordination with state and local law enforcement

° Create a code of conduct and enforce it

° Require agents to wear body cams and not masks
Democrats demand new ICE restrictions as government shutdown looms
After federal agents shot and killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, Senate Democrats say they’ll block a massive government funding package without policy changes.

Locals take note...
I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

The reason congressional Dems are becoming more and more vocal about firings and impeachments is because the base pushed them towards it. *That's* why we should be critical of them when need be.

These people certainly aren’t for freedom of religion, or free speech, or bodily autonomy. This week they even came for the second amendment!

Freedom for me but not for thee.
It’s just incredibly funny this is supposed to be the “freedom” party. It was never about any freedom except their right to be selfish assholes and not feel bad about it.

we’ve got a ways to go until 2030 so this could change but it’s pretty much an across the board disaster if it doesn’t

I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but these guys are paid with your tax money and have no real job. ICE isn't necessary. They don't get rid of criminals. They just terrorize communities. And THAT'S why they should be abolished. No need for reins. It's not a job!

I really think this was the point of stripping CBS News for parts. They didn't need it to be an effective propaganda outlet; they already have those. They just needed it out of the way.

Hot Take: Sometimes jobs being automated out of existence is good. I'm glad we don't send as many people into coal mines anymore because machines do the work now. And legislating to force those jobs to remain can have ridiculous results; look at the mandated gas station attendants in New Jersey.

If you are interested in knowing about edgy obscure stuff before it goes mainstream and feeling superior to uncool normies, you should take that energy to music or movies or fashion or whatever because any politics worth pursuing is necessarily earnest, inclusive, and deeply, fundamentally uncool.
We need everyone we can get in this fight against a fascist takeover.

If your first instinct to someone being politically mobilized by all this is to give them a sneering "well, what took you so long?" you don't actually care about our winning this; you just want to be able to say you were right.

I think it would be great to see a former Jets QB beat the Patriots to win a Super Bowl for another team.

Plus, I think Seattle's better.
