Well, what do you know? Word of God says, "Jeggings"! Still a unique choice for Pepper Ann to wear with a skirt!

I was holding back invoking Pajama Jeans the whole time, cause like regular jeans do look that light sometimes

Granted, the ability to use AI meaningfully at that level of engine, as compared to the limits of GoldSrc and Id Tech, does make it extra susceptible to holdouts feeling desperate, versus embracing the limitations and going hog wild with changes.

Well back to the old argument, there just hasn't been much incentive or momentum to stay on Source with creative ambition.

The expectation isn't just professionalism but also milking That Thing You Like dry when its engine and assets are free to mount but you can't profit from any of it.

I'm hoping to tally up figures for what it'd be like making it with more modern ethical practices, but it's crazy to me that a movie like this was turned around within only 10 months of script approval, and it only took like 6 directors and brutalizing nearly the entire cast.

Crunchyroll has proven to be a microcosm of a lot of overlapping issues faced by the captioning ecosystem.

I've long said that captioners tend to be found among at least 5 subindustries, and Crunchyroll intersects 3 of them.

Then they expect everyone to settle for "lowest common denominator".

For the record, my emergent favourites are "Granny Mobile", "Movies", and "Sheepdog".

Honourable mention to apparent recent r/Bluey fave "Sleepytime".

Of course, if anyone should be paying, it's the companies that shorten like 50+ links a day and don't already use their own short domains for that

Effectively the main costs are the database and the bandwidth of lookup requests, like a large DNS server. Depends then on the service popularity.
