Carroll O’Conner was a great actor and a decent human who got it. He played the role of Archie Bunker, yet understood the what that represented and played that role with layers of understanding. Always admired him.

Rob Reiner said Carroll was even more liberal than he was, which is wild. Dunno where I remember reading it, but CO'C used to write critical letters back to people who loved Archie, saying he was hardly a role model.
