jennifer jacobs: scoop: the unexpected airspace closure in el paso stemmed from disagreements over drone-related tests, sources told @cbsnews. pentagon had untertaken extensive planning on use of military tech near fort bliss. two sources identified the technology as high-energy laser. earlier this week, tech was used to shoot down what appeared to be foreign drones. the flying material turned out to be a party balloon, sources said one balloon was shot down. FAA administrator bryan bedford las night decided to close the airspace - without alerting white house, pentagon, or homeland security officials. bedford told officials the airspace restrictions would be in place to ensure safety until issues with the war department could be resolved.

Durchhaltevermögen ist bemerkenswert, wichtig. Und dieser Widerstand scheint erste Wirkung zu zeigen: Einige ICE-Kräfte werden abgezogen.

Vielleicht wirkt ICE ja deshalb so bedrohlich: weil es keine Kopie eines autoritären Instruments ist, sondern die Gewalt im demokratischen System stattfindet, angeordnet von der Spitze des gewählten Staatsoberhaupts.

Die USA blicken auf eine andere Geschichte, eine andere politische Tradition zurück als das Deutschland von 1933: knapp 250 Jahre demokratische Entwicklung, die Trump aktuell beschädigt, indem er seine Macht ausweitet, Institutionen aushöhlt, unberechenbar regiert.

Der Vergleich zur Gestapo bleibt aber falsch. Der Nationalsozialismus war kein bloßes hartes Durchgreifen des Staates. Er bedeutete totale Entmenschlichung, industrielle Vernichtung, getragen von einer eliminatorischen Ideologie, legitimiert durch breite gesellschaftliche Zustimmung.

Remote-access “transfers of EEA User Data to China”: Update on Irish GDPR decision In April 2025, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) found that TikTok had not complied with GDPR requirements in relation to transfers of some "EEA User Data to China by way of remote access". The DPC ordered TikTok to bring its transfers into compliance within 6 months, failing which they must be suspended. TikTok strongly disagrees with the DPC's decision and is appealing through the Irish courts. The High Court of Ireland has paused the decision while that happens, allowing the transfers to continue for now. You can read more about this here.
