Let them be independents and face both Democrat and Republican candidates in their next election cycle, or let them just switch to being Republicans and get primaried by MAGA candidates. For the party whip to defect is just embarrassing, you can't let that slide.

It's a clear win for the Republicans, they had the discipline to not detonate the filibuster and the narrative will now be that the Democrats messed with a bunch of people's lives pointlessly. Which, they kind of did.

Majority of Dem senators did hold out. But for the public, that won't matter. You need the entire party, lock-step, do to something like this. That was never a very likely thing, American parties are too weak. This isn't a parliamentary system with strong party discipline.
