Playing Cards — LocalThunk
Playstack and I recently partnered with Fangamer to create an official Balatro themed playing card deck. I want to talk a little bit about playing cards to explain why we decided to do this instead of...

I've had parts of this written down for a while - but I thought it was about time to document the detailed version of what happened during Balatro development

The Balatro Timeline — LocalThunk
It’s been approximately 3 years since I began work on Balatro - and in that time I have personally documented almost nothing about the journey. This is something that has bothered me since the game la...

Someone asked me: "Why did you leave Epic, is it really such a terrible place?" TL;DR: no, not a terrible place at all! Find the full response here: blog.s-schoener.com/2025-02-17-l...
Why I left Epic Games | Sebastian Schöner
I recently had someone reach out to me and ask this question: I see a lot of people that were at Unity, left, went to Epic, and a year later they are independent. Is Epic really such a terrible place ...

Sniped by my own physics, I added rotational energy transfer. What's the point of Pong if you can't "Put English" on the balls and have them bounce accordingly?

I did a WASM build of this checkpoint. Run it in your browser: meggsomatic.tv/balls_with_r...

FREE GAMES! No, really, the PC has mountains of great games that don't cost a penny. Not even F2P (though I did include some), just FREE. I'm gradually updating a sortable little database of the best out there. Got 125+ so far

Share it around, and let me know if there's anything I should add to it!

I will try to open source my STL replacement lib tomorrow.

It's basically ready but I'd like to finish writing a blog post about the allocators, and with every day being filled with family lunches that end at 18:00, I haven't found the time yet.

I put together a little thread last night - my personal Game Of The Year shortlist, plus a little detail on each game.

Honestly I don't want to try boiling it down or ordering it more than that. I could probably go all week listing cool games that came out this year.
My opinions are ever shifting, but I think my GOTY top ten shortlist right now is (in no particular order)

Selaco
Nine Sols
Lorn's Lure
Angel At Dusk
Arco
UFO 50
Caves of Qud
Path of Exile 2
Robotnik's Ring Racers
Abiotic Factor

Those are the ones that resonated with me, personally.
