This blog was written with general audiences in mind. For those who want more information into the history of the lab and the study’s theoretical framework etc., to you I say: papers forthcoming.

Thanks to the @uscwrigley.usc.edu for the fellowship that allowed me to carry out this work. 🙏🏼

I'm old enough to remember when polio ripped through the globe and put my friends into iron lungs.

We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good and saved lives.

RFK Jr leading HHS is a disgrace.
RFK Jr.: It Would Be Better if ‘Everybody Got Measles’
“The measles gave you lifetime protection against measles infection,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Sean Hannity on Fox News.

A correlation between using #AI and lower #criticalThinking went viral: doi.org/10.3390/soc1...

Many accepted the title's implied causation: "AI Tools... IMPACT... Critical Thinking"

Few mentioned that the correlation
- interacts with #education
- diminishes (quadratic term)

I hope that the intent was to embolden and encourage; as music often does in desperate, difficult times. They performed the piece well and really embodied the moment in the musical, like you said. For whatever reason the choir sang, I’m grateful that they did. Thank you for taking the time to msg. 🩵

I agree—singers often do! Pieces are selected by choral directors for their relevance to the audience. I’ve witnessed these selections as modes of engaging people who otherwise wouldn’t see themselves in the “story”—to
me they are neither aimless nor forceful curations.

This week, the U.S. Army Choir sang “Do you hear the people sing?” at the White House. Whatever the intent, the performance reminded me of all the times choral music has taught me something—about myself, about others, and even about how to change my mind. 📖 🤍

Whether they are building or cutting, a leader’s actions should match their stated objectives. If they don’t, there’s a good chance that whatever they are doing is in response to something they (a) haven’t thought enough about, or (b) are hiding from you.
