In his "deal with the devil", to quote George, Anakin explicitly tells us his motive for siding with evil. "I can't live without her." He wants to save her for his own sake, not for hers.
This is not love, this is Possession. This is what the Jedi seek to avoid by forbidding attachment. 2/
Maz dehumanizes the FO "Those beasts. They're here", and Poe tells the pilots "Don't let these thugs scare you".
In 2015 it wasn't a political statement to call neo-nazis Thugs or Beasts, but in 2025 it feels oddly significant, similar to the repeated use of "Bastards" to degrade the Empire in Andor

I see this quote a lot, and it's one that some people (not sithcore!) tend to take out of context
When George talks about "new", he's primarily talking about technology, not story.
Both the originals And the prequels completely revolutionized the industry. Dave understood those high expectations

Happy 10th anniversary to The Force Awakens! As one of my favourite Star Wars stories, this film, while imperfect, holds a special place in my heart.
A not insignificant amount of that is due to it having one of the greatest sequences of fight choreography ever. So now I am finally analyzing it

This is a wonderful thread💜
(And it's not That long)

The Force Awakens was such a strong start to the trilogy and launch of the new canon, and the way it explored the theme of legacy was brilliant.
Having a brand new era we knew nothing about was so exciting, I hope we get that feeling again soon!
Day Eighteen of Star Wars sequel trilogy appreciation celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Force Awakens! This movie is still amazing ten years later, and still remains a fantastic start to a fantastic trilogy.

(A VERY LONG thread, my sequel fan magnum opus)

•Seeing Kylo freeze that blaster bolt, my best friend and I just looked at each other with our jaws dropped
•The interrogation & Awakening, Kylo taking off the mask, Daisy & Adam sell the intense mental duel so well
•Finn & Rey vs Kylo, best SW choreo since 1980. Felt like watching AU Jaina vs Jacen

Nothing to be embarrassed about! I hope she liked the film💜
Rey in TFA was as close to Jaina as we'll likely ever get in live action: She's a mechanic, pilot, Jedi, Han and Leia both love her, and she duels their son (after he kills a beloved family member as a Sacrifice to the Dark Side), and wins.
10 years ago The Force Awakens hit theaters. I will never forget that night, as we met a woman while in line for the premiere who had named her then teenage daughter after Jaina Solo from the EU novels, something in which the young woman was clearly embarrassed about.

The script for my TFA 10th Anniversary thread (which was going to be a video but depression is hell, and video editing is worse) is currently 25 pages long.
It's only about the fight choreography.
Of the lightsaber duel on Starkiller Base.

Luke rejects the counsel of [grows beyond] his elders to abandon his faith in his father's goodness and free will to reject the corruption of the Dark Side [the Para-Force], defeating Palpatine not through might, but by breaking the cycle of violence that gives him power,

Briefly:
If #FotOR is set at the end of the Old Republic, which is 1032 BBY, it's closer to the High Republic (500 BBY) than to KotOR (~4000 BBY).
If that sounds disappointing, consider the following: In 1032 BBY we could meet Darth Bane.
We could be the Jedi who makes him the sole Sith survivor.

Ooh a sci-fi game
This is feeling a bit SW
Wait is it? The flightstick...
If this isn't SW they're doing a damn good job imitating the vibes
The shot composition, the music, the way the thrusters power down
Oh shit, I think it is SW
This pilot looks like a Jedi

IT'S SW

It's so nice to see that Daisy Ridley knows a lot of fans actually do care and want more Sequel era stories, especially ones of Rey and Ben.
It may be too early but this gives me hope we're reaching the "The kids these films were made for are growing up now and this is their SW" stage of the cycle.

This post from a creator I both admire and disagree with, has inspired a response that became:

An exploration of the Dark Side as a metaphysical embodiment of greed, the corruptive nature of power, the dangers of institutional enforcers, the One Ring, and how even SW Jesus can become Lucifer.

You, a virgin fool: the Dark Side is a corruption of the Force which must be fought or destroyed wherever possible

Jar'Kai is the dual-wielding lightsaber Form. Its name seems to come from the Japanese practice Daishō meaning
"long [dai] short [shō]".

Does Jar'Kai also mean
"long [jar] short [kai]"?
Is the protagonist of Young Jedi Adventures (Kai) "Short Brightstar"?
Furthermore; Long Long Binks?

Opinion:
#BenSolo saving the woman he loves from death is NOT "finish[ing] what [Anakin] started", that's such a severe misunderstanding of Anakin's fall.

Anakin didn't fall because he was unAble to save his wife from death, his fall was because he was unWilling to let her die, as was her fate.

How did Adam get my script of Rey traveling to the Netherworld of Unbeing ala Orpheus to take Ben back to the realm of the living, despite warnings from the mortis Father (Sir Ian McKellen) this is how the original Dyad unbalanced the Force?

@starwarsexplained.com is now officially more canon than I am!
Genuinely though, I couldn't be happier about this, Alex and @molliedamon.bsky.social are lights in this fandom when all other lights go out.
Always kind, passionate, fun, and brave, with keen and insightful analysis.
Congratulations!💜

One of my favorite parts of the first game was Feinting my enemies; the game never tells you, but canceling your attack animation baits enemies into reacting.
Now in #GhostOfYotei enemies can feint too, as this enemy seems to cancel a slash when Atsu rolls away, and then transitions to a thrust!

Now that we have another snowy planet (my favorite biome), they better not blow it up like the last two!
(Assuming it's not Starkiller or Kimji, which are both still around in this era.
They might be on a mission investigating the Imperial 'project' on Illum?)

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, and it might prove to be a different creature, but this sure looks like a Greater Krayt Dragon to me!

Remember when all the """fans""" pretended to suddenly care about Ki-Adi Mundi just because it was politically advantageous (hateful), when most of them didn't even know his name, and he wasn't even well-liked among his special group of hypocrites within his politically-entrenched religion?

In TLJ, Luke assumes Ben took "a handful" of his students. But we know from the Rise of Kylo Ren comics that Ben didn't take anyone.

3 Jedi chased after him, but they were already off-world when the Temple was destroyed, and 3 is not a handful, it's barely a few.

So who *did* take Luke's students?

Also, as a choreographer it's some of the best storytelling through choreo I've seen.
Bespin, Starkiller, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Princess Bride. The forest fight from The Acolyte

Technical complexity, evolving dynamics, character expression, themes, historical techniques. It's all there
August 15, 2025 at 9:49 AM
Obviously this is drills, not a choreographed fight scene with other combatants or direction, and should be taken with a grain of salt

That being said, as someone who's done this for over 20 years, I think he's showing good skill and physical literacy, and that toss & catch flourish is very Ezra
