Solo dev working on a new Godot project 🐸

Also, when you're engulfed in a project every single day, it can be invaluable to just take a few days away and look at it with fresher eyes (especially if you're feeling stumped / blocked on something)

It's funny how stepping away from logic / system work over the past week/end allowed my brain to rest and shift gears to freeform ideas entirely organically.

It's as if the way to get my brain to think artistically is to unload any sort of active puzzles / logic for a while.

It feels almost like "training" my brain toward systemic / logical thinking for a period of time and "re-training" it to be more freeform and emotional for art.

It's hard for my brain to be in "full gear' toward both at the same time I think.

Any other solo devs feel like you're "rubber-banding" between technical work and art?

At the start of my project I felt very inspired by the art direction and exploration therof. Now that I'm deep into technical implementation, I feel almost lost artistically.

Resources in #Godot are so freaking powerful. What a well designed system

Nodes, Scene, and Resources are such an elegant composition structure.

Maybe something about it just clicks in my brain more easily but I've been finding low poly 3D tremendously easier than isometric / top-down 2D + pixel art. I find everything about the workflow easier top to bottom

Not much in the way of interesting visuals to share yet but good progress is being made on the core game mechanic / minigame

Mostly just posting to project to myself and the world that I HAVE been working on it 10-20 hours a week outside of work and it is NOT dead haha

The whole "Retro" aesthetic has slowly moved past pixel art and is now in the PSX generation, by the next decade we'll have indie games that recreate the visual fidelity of Yakuza, GTA San Andreas, and Final Fantasy X

Working on consolidating handles across platforms for updates more focused on dev related things!

In the past I've made accounts for specific projects that didn't reach release so I figure it makes sense to aggregate my work in one place 😅
