RF 2014's talent show(?) was indeed my first appearance at a furcon - freshly 19, and a week into my US adventure.

That was a very formative experience & I'll never forget your encouragement before, during, & after. I also met two long time friends & collaborators there.

You're the kinda musician I'd love to be when I grow up!

(this isn't about any specific thing that's happened or any person, just my brain probably being unkind to me, and needing to release a little of the pressure)

It's tiring, you'd think after so long there'd be a level of 'oh! we should get Jake involved in this', but maybe that's just entitlement, idk.

I know I'm no pop(fur)star, but like, I also know I'm not shit, & am the kinda dog that will work hard if afforded an opportunity that I've not begged for.

It just always feels like such a fight, each year it's like I have to explain who I am to the decision makers again, or don't even get considered for larger musical events that are invite only.

Doorbell didn't even ring! I am a bit confused though because they wrote the wrong flat number on the slip so I wonder that maybe the person sending it put the address wrong, but my name is correct, so... i dunno.

Weird, and very frustrating.

Ah this was back in '07 following brain surgery for a haemorrhage. Thankfully the seizures were manageable with pills, unfortunately the ol' bottle got to him first. He's safely in the care of professionals now.

I really hope your bout passes soon, and for a seizure-free life!

My dad contracted it during a seizure, he fell onto a coffee table and crushed a vertebrae, trapping the sciatic nerve at the same time. Would not wish that on anyone.
