CMHC and our own government both stated we need to double the amount of new housing being built. There's no boogeyman, we just need to build more until the cost of homes drops significantly and everyone can afford a place to live.

Build more houses. Get that public home builder up and running.
Evidence has demonstrated this effect in numerous cities now.
I understand why it sounds weird to say, 'building a bunch of fancy new townhouses and skyscrapers will make housing more affordable!' but it simply appears to be true.
