Watching the current right-wing/GBD/MAHA outrage over at the other site against the UK Covid Inquiry reinforces the importance of understanding how pandemic contrarianism and misinformation fuels the far right, particularly in the US and the UK.

The reason the GBD-ideologues keeps pumping out Swedish excess stats (as well as various misinformation about the Swedish response) as a be all and end all argument, is obviously because a well timed lockdown (which comes with its own costs) actually works very well.

All good. It'll certainly be very bad for the UK, and Norway (where I live). Maybe to the point that it would cause something like the collapse of living conditions, but even that is somewhat uncertain.

While the Reuters report says an AMOC shutdown "could trigger a modern-day ice age", this is not what we scientists call an ice age. Rather, it is a regional cooling, plus other severe impacts on sea level, rainfall patterns, weather extremes, marine ecosystems and ocean carbon uptake.

Say what? Although the possibility of an AMOC collapse is a very serious issue, and would have major societal consequences, it's "end times environmentalism" to claim it will cause 'game over for our civilisation'. Also, the video is about the Antarctic overturning circulation.

Altså, det er jo ganske åpenbart at han ikke er den møreste biffen i panna og mangler kritisk distanse på sosiale medier. Men heller ikke tilfeldig at han tiltrekkes av rød-brun ideologi (antifolkehelse, transfobi), det er ideologisk grunnet.

Det er (burde vært) fullstendig uholdbart at FHI's de facto talsmann om Covid/pandemi viser sterk sympati med de kontrære kreftene som har kommet til makten i amerikanske folkehelse under RFK jr. Så sent som i år har han rykket ut til forsvar for Bhattacharya, og vært positiv til Kulldorff.
