Isn’t this an accounting anomaly based on Covid output distortions? Its functionally identical it seems to me for past years and 10-15% higher relative to 2019.

Challenge. Explain the current crisis in one chart.

Within 1 question, AI just turns the formula around. We are sooo far away from this being useful

Happy publishing day to me! Sure, my book has a dinosaur on the cover. But then you‘re way more likely to read it than a 500 page book on microbes that sounds interesting but languishes on the shelf. Buy my the book, no regret guarantee :-) www.penguin.co.uk/books/468076...

Hey. We are trying to get a “pulse” on how sustainability professionals (broad definition, basically everyone reading this) are feeling about the climate transition after last week. Its 180s, reposts appreciated. Its not scientific but a baseline on next 4 years forms.office.com/pages/respon...

There is no consumption choice as meaningful as voting
November 4, 2024 at 7:50 PM
You think this doesn‘t matter?

Nothing more impactful for reducing your emissions than voting

Ran the US numbers this morning using our citizens footprint calculator. Nothing more impactful than voting

Same. No reason at all equivalent analysis from Europe…

Wanted to do a US elections voting footprint calculator this year but ran out of time. The European one we did this year proves your point though. No consumption choice beats voting! theiafinance.org/wp-content/u...

It would be great if it did but it explicitly does not. „No progress on climate policies says report that explicitly does not take on the ground climate policies into account.“ would have been a better headline

But they aren’t!!! Look at this chart, in fact the study suggests IPCC scientists are confused about the science with entirely inconsistent predictions about net zero and warming. I appreciate the uncertainty (tipping points and geoengineering etc) but this suggests a confused state of play

Could you link to that study? This is the source I typically use which has agriculture around 15% (excluding deforestation)

My favourite chart from the ExxonMobil projection. Magically EV market share growth will effectively flatline in next 6 years vs previous 6. Insane to think that Exxon is drinking its own coolade with these projections. When the profit motive is subsumed by the pwned motive…

Nothing to see here, just notorious climate sceptic *checks notes* German Environmental Protection Agency using a footprint methodology that concludes buying a 3 year old ICE less carbon intensive than a 3 year old EV…

I find the covid19 comparison so striking. We were willing to destroy a ton of economic value to save a life. Avoiding future climate deaths would be an order of magnitude cheaper (using central climate mortality estimates, ignoring co-benefits and costs).

I found this helpful.

Every vote counts! At next week‘s EU election, your vote could have 6x the emissions reduction potential as any individual lifestyle choice. Our first of its kind citizen footprint calculator quantifies the relative footprint impact of our voting choice. Check it out
