I'm trying to wean myself off cable and have found I spend most of my TV time on PBS anyway. So much programming! And most of it's much higher caliber than elsewhere. I preach the gospel of PBS Passport all the time.

My father loved PBS so much; I make a donation each Christmas in his memory.

I've been a huge PBS fan my whole life. It enrages me that a senator from my state (John N. Kennedy) was behind the cuts in funding to public television and radio. He claimed they were too "left leaning." I suppose that means they teach good habits, social skills and critical thinking.

TFG hates the same people the cultists do, so they're fine with his "indiscretions," as long as he keeps freedoms from people they consider "other."

Right now, comedians and talk show hosts ARE our news media, speaking out on our behalf, acting as the Fourth Estate.

I've got two journalism degrees and I'm mad as hell we don't have another Woodward and Bernstein at work.

Of course, part of me believes that, even if the Epstein files – and other stories – are exposed, the Kool-aid cultists won't care.

Today marks yet another day that Speaker Mike Johnson has denied Adelita Grijalva her right to govern.

She won her special election on Sept 23rd but has yet to be sworn in.

Why? Because she will become the 218th vote needed to discharge the release of the Epstein files.

I binge a lot of the international dramas on PBS Passport. (Almost all are in another language; I don't mind subtitles, but some people do.)

I also recommend Deadloch (Prime), Shetland (BritBox), Keeping Faith (Acorn), Scrublands (AMC), Wire in the Blood (Prime) and Hostage (Netflix).

And if I'm doing multiple rounds of edits for them, I will also print out the "final" version and edit by hand.

I'd prefer to do ALL the edits on paper, but:
A. we don't need to kill that many more trees
B. someone's gotta put those corrections into the digital copy; might as well be me.

As an editor, I often recommend writers print out their manuscript and read through it before turning it over to me for my edits. That way, they can make any corrections or revisions they find, so I get the cleanest copy they can produce.

I would extend that to almost ANY word that has "ize" or "ization" at the end. We've spent the last few decades making up stupid versions of words to appear somehow smarter, when the original words were perfectly fine.
