Yeah I was originally diagnosed with IST and then it was changed to dysautonomia when I had a full autonomic work up. But so many people can’t even get that. As you said, so few doctors know about this stuff it’s not surprising that articles are muddying the waters!

Today marks yet another day that Speaker Mike Johnson has denied Adelita Grijalva her right to govern.

She won her special election on Sept 23rd but has yet to be sworn in.

Why? Because she will become the 218th vote needed to discharge the release of the Epstein files.

Say her name.

If you want to fight fascism… wear a mask (ideally a respirator like an N95!).

It will help keep you and your community healthy.

It makes protests and other events accessible for disabled & high risk people.

It tells the government you don’t believe that anyone is expendable.

My cousin died of an asthma attack on Thanksgiving a few years ago. Asthma is still deadly but people don’t remember how it used to send kids to the ER on a regular basis bc now we have such good meds to treat it - like this type of inhaler.

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Many of us with complex chronic illness learn a ton over years of neglect in healthcare settings.

We learn by painful trial and error and become confident about when to speak up.

But someone who’s never been sick? Someone who doesn’t speak the language or is critically ill?

They can’t speak up.

And most people don’t have an advocate or they don’t have an advocate who understand what’s expected of the care plan either.

We need to fix the system, not put an increased burden on the patients.

Also, we need mandatory masking in healthcare.
