Are you an ANU faculty member? You can vote for me to be your representative on Council!

Running as the NTEU endorsed candidate, I want to be a voice for transparency & good governance!

I just voted [1] James Blackwell, [2] Alexander (Sasha) Mikheyev.

If you're an ANU academic, I'd encourage you to do the same

🎉 Proud of our Master’s student Zyarna Leefe! Zyarna represented Australia at the #G20 Youth Summit (#Y20) in South Africa, advocating for Indigenous peoples to have formal seats & decision-making roles in multilateral institutions — a proposal supported by 18/20 delegations!

Always good to see @croakeynews.bsky.social run pieces by PhD students, especially when they’re also ANU Bell School colleagues❤️‍🔥

Isabelle Zhu-Maguire writes about what we could expect to see from an Australian #COP31, especially given our attachment to fossil fuels

In a country wedded to fossil fuels, what would an Australia-Pacific climate conference look like?

Doctors (inc my sister) are on strike across NSW, and you might wonder why — aren’t doctors paid heaps?

Junior doctors in NSW earn 1/3 less for the same job than in other states. They work 12hr shifts days in a row.

Junior doctors deserve better pay & conditions so they can be better physicians.

For the first time in NSW history, senior and junior doctors are taking industrial action together, 8-10 April.

We have spent years trying to address the staffing crisis in our public hospitals.

This is our last resort.

I’m not gonna link the article because it doesn’t need clicks, but Mike Pezzullo continues in his quest to find rock bottom Aussie racism…

If anyone’s stupid enough to continue working with him, you can’t say you didn’t know he’s a racist, and you’re tainted by association (Looking at you AIIA)!

🧵: Those pushing these economic/green agendas for Indigenous peoples *without* a rights framework (either deliberately or not — and some are deliberate) are arguing a losing case for most mob. The only people who win there are those already winning. That changes nothing.
jamesblackwell.bsky.social
🧵: I’ve been in the US since Nov, meeting many Indigenous nations. Property, legal, and political RIGHTS are CENTRAL to their economic agendas. Otherwise all we get is fancy Indigenous businesses taking all the cash, none of it going where it needs to — aka what we have now!
jamesblackwell.bsky.social
Ben Wyatt is currently advocating, along with some Canberra big-noters, for an economic empowerment/green economy framework that First Nations in Aotearoa, Canada & the United States *ONLY* achieved *BECAUSE* of Indigenous property RIGHTS and constitutional recognition.

Peter Jennings is the very problem with ASPI. The Varghese review called out his behaviour & management many times. And this doesn’t even touch his history of what I would argue are racially problematic views. That we should listen to him now is farcical.
