It's hard living next door to a bully. but if all the ants stand together, we can push the grasshopper aside. Canada, now more than ever, needs the support of nations around the world.

⚠️ A word of caution: Language barriers still persist in accessing legal advice or administrative services. Advocating for equal access across all areas ensures the respect enshrined in courtrooms extends to other parts of Canadian life. 8️⃣/🧵

📌 What does this mean for everyday life? Language barriers shouldn’t stop anyone from defending themselves or fully participating in court. Justice isn’t truly served unless everyone involved can understand and engage fully. 7️⃣/🧵

Canada stands out by constitutionally guaranteeing this right. It reflects not only fairness but also respect for linguistic and cultural diversity. This ensures justice is accessible, impartial, and inclusive for all. 6️⃣/🧵

Under authoritarian regimes, access to interpreters may be restricted to silence dissenting voices or disadvantage minority groups. In these cases, language barriers become tools of oppression, excluding individuals from fair trials and equal treatment under the law. 5️⃣/🧵
February 3, 2025 at 3:09 PM
In some countries, access to interpreters is inconsistent or limited. In others, language rights aren’t constitutionally guaranteed, creating significant gaps in how language needs are handled across jurisdictions. 4️⃣/🧵
February 3, 2025 at 3:09 PM
🤔 Why does this matter? Fairness depends on understanding the process and being understood. But this is also about respect—respect for your identity, culture, and ability to fully participate in one of the most critical moments of your life. 3️⃣/🧵
February 3, 2025 at 3:09 PM
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees that anyone involved in legal proceedings has access to interpretation services in their preferred language. This includes English, French, Indigenous languages, and even ASL. Justice must be accessible to everyone. 2️⃣/🧵

I am actually not a fan of the booing...this fight isn't against the American people - who will take booing personally - it's against the US Gov. remove ice graphics, play an instrumental version, and everyone take a knee. we can protest, but I think we need to be the adults in the room right now.

7️⃣🧵 💬 Have you ever felt that your ability to work was limited by rules or restrictions?

6️⃣🧵 But, know this, too: The right to work doesn’t mean you're entitled to a job. It’s our responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society while defending the policies that protect employment rights. Staying informed helps keep our workforce strong and equitable.
February 2, 2025 at 2:17 PM
5️⃣🧵 This right ensures Canadians can freely access the job market to support themselves and their families. It strengthens our economy through labour mobility and fair practices, while providing stability in job opportunities and infrastructure.
February 2, 2025 at 2:17 PM
4️⃣🧵 Closer to home, in the U.S., the Constitution doesn’t explicitly guarantee the right to work. States can impose inconsistent laws that sometimes limit opportunities, particularly for marginalized communities, creating inequality and barriers to economic mobility.
February 2, 2025 at 2:17 PM
3️⃣🧵 Around the world, in countries like Venezuela or North Korea, access to work often depends on political loyalty or favoritism. Opposing the government can result in fines, job loss, or imprisonment. Scarcity of opportunity and crumbling infrastructure are common.
February 2, 2025 at 2:17 PM
2️⃣🧵 🤔 So, why does this matter? Here in Canada, our constitution ensures consistency and fairness across the nation, fostering opportunity for everyone. But not all countries provide this guarantee.

It was listening to "I'd die without you" by PM Dawn, watching the starfield simulation on a Sega Saturn, but yes.
