I told people not to see the Lilo and Stitch remake… but NOOO! You all had go and let it make a billion - and now we’re going to be stuck with more of these goddamn live-action remakes.

@tonygoldmark.bsky.social Honesty, Dick Van Dyke should be given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Academy Awards… he was robbed for not getting one for Mary Poppins.

Will they renew their contract with SDS after 2030? Honestly, I don’t know… maybe, maybe not. 5 years is a long time, maybe they’ll become more open towards physical media during that time - maybe not. It’s too far out, we’ll have to wait and see.

@karlamon.bsky.social I share your concerns. But in terms of home media Jeff Rauseo did a video about this.

TL:DW - Back in 2020 WB signed a 10-year-contract with Studio Distribution Services (SDS)… so WB will continue to release physical media through to 2030.

Back in 2020 WB signed a 10 year contract with Studio Distribution Services (SDS) to manufacture Physical Media… so Netflix can’t shut down Warner Home Video or Warner Archives until at least 2030.

For people panicking about Netflix potentially shutting down WB Home Video, here’s some info:
As for Physical Media, Jeff Rauseo made a video on this... but bottom line WB has a manufacturing deal with Studio Distribution Services (SDS) to manufacture physical media until 2030, so nothing drastic will happen to WB Home Video or Warner Archive until then.

UPDATE: Okay now it's offical: Netflix is buying WB... here's my thoughts.

Also the fact that Netflix went into debt to buy WB (i.e. the exact same thing Discovery did when they bought WB) means that we might see a repeat of how Discovery managed WB... sigh.
December 6, 2025 at 1:55 AM
AFTER the deal expires in 2030, will Netflix let WB renew their contract with SDS.... I honestly don't know.

Maybe over the next 5 years they'll become more open towards physical media release (and WB becoming their main home video supplier)... maybe they won't. We'll have to wait and see.

Netflix is currently saying it will keep WB films in theatres but be more "consumer friendly" i.e. shorter times between movies being in theatres and appearing on streaming services... which is not good and a lot of people in the industry are pushing back on.
Netflix Says Warner Bros. Movies Will Remain in Theaters but ‘Windows Will Evolve to Be Much More Consumer Friendly’
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos promised that Warner Bros. movies will get a theatrical release, but 'windows will evolve.'
