Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to reject Paramount Skydance's $108 BILLION
hostile takeover bid, Bloomberg reports.

The board views its $83B deal with Netflix as superior, offering better overall value, greater certainty, and stronger terms for shareholders.

Any chance that Netflix buys WB, they should follow how Amazon approached MGM and their strategies of distribution, production, etc.

We are heartbroken by the attack at Bondi Beach that targeted the Jewish community during a Hanukkah celebration, as families gathered to mark a sacred holiday.

Now and always, we condemn this act of antisemitic violence, and violence in all its forms.

Honey, please. You lost.

Just take your loss, go away, and don't come back under these circumstances.
Paramount is now reportedly looking to launch a hostile bid for Warner Bros

They feel their $30 a share all-cash offer is higher than what Netflix offered — in terms of cash, stock and the value of the cable business spinoff

Either Ted Sarandos opens up more to theatrical windows that can maximize their presence and physical media releases for more revenue streams at Netflix pending their acquisition of Warner Bros. or he might face even more scrutiny as the merger process could likely be blocked altogether.

So Netflix bought Warner Bros. Discovery? Considering the fact that Netflix doesn't have its own studios and is just a streaming company, it's a much better fate for WBD.

It’s official Netflix is buying WB.

Sigh… okay TO BE FAIR this is BETTER (or at the very least, less bad) than either Paramount or Universal buying WB...

Doomposting about Netflix ruining WB will not be tolerated.

We can be excited, frustrated and jaded about it. But can we not act in nihilism and know what’s actually happening.

They are just in talks for a deal. The deal could fall flat if this ends up in court or under public scrutiny.

The latest episode of The Extras podcast was on the Tom and Jerry Golden Era Anthology set with Jerry Beck and George F.

TO THEIR CREDIT, they do address the elephant in the room when it comes to this set: i.e. Why are 7 of these cartoons still sourced from the crappy 1960s MetroColor prints?

Umm... considering that L. Frank Baum wrote two articles in 1890 advocating for the genocide of Native Americans.

I'm going say... no.

i honestly love how no matter how many copyright limitations there are, every single piece of media about oz somehow incorporates details of the 1939 movie. it really did put the image of what oz looks like into the collective conscious and i think that's beautiful

Chuck Jones perfected not one but two Dr. Seuss adaptations for TV.
There has never been a better adaptation of Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" than the 1966 TV special directed by Chuck Jones, and there probably never will be.

"Well, Jim Carrey's Grinch .."

You heard what I said!

By the looks of it, this set is shaping up to be the DEFINATIVE collection of the original Tom and Jerry cartoons.

As far as I can tell, ALMOST EVERYTHING from the previous Spotlight, Golden and CinemaScope Collections are getting carried over to this release.
With just about a week to go until Tom and Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology is released, Amazon has unveiled the back panel for the Blu-ray.

Pretty much, if you held out on getting the Cinemascope Collection, YOU WILL be getting the same 3 shorts from that on this set (and more!)

It's obvious "A Tale of Two Kitties" isn't a Tweety short and isn't supposed to be a Tweety short; it was just an excuse for Bob Clampett to do an Abbot and Costello routine with a couple cats and the bratty bird was meant at a foil. But the bird stole the show and became a star in the end!

I don't know which company I would want to buy Warner Bros, but I would rather it not be one that already owns a major legacy studio or one uninterested in the theatrical business.

Maybe an electronics company akin to when Sony bought Columbia Pictures.

Fun-Fact: A few years ago I wrote into Stu's Show and asked Jerry Beck about the Whoopi Goldberg intros on the Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry DVDs and he had a pretty interesting story of how they came about:

(Note: I edited this down and sped it up by 5% so it would fit in a BlueSky post)

When Fantasia was first released on November 13, 1940, the film was a total flop due to the extremely limited amount of screenings, and a very mixed reception from critics. 85 years later, it's now considered one of the greatest movies in cinema that highlights the magic of Disney and animation.
