...I mean, you'd play it, right?
The cover artwork of the upcoming tabletop game Warhammer Quest Darkwater, but the protagonists have been digitally replaced with the cast of the 90s animated series Pirates of Dark Water.

...oh, and yeah: it also goes the other way. Be comfortable paying more for indie stuff!

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Well, I'm really enjoying it, it does a lot of things I wanna see in a wargame. Nice chunky decision space, without too much complexity. Definitely a lot more approachable and faster to play than the previous edition!

But I'm lead designer on the new edition, so I'm maybe a bit biased... 😆

Played some Dystopian Wars this week! It's been nice to get back into the swing of painting an army and playing games. It's been too long!

If you're an indie creator, I expect the price of your ttrpgs, zines and comics to be higher than what I'd pay a bigger publisher for something similar. This will never stop me buying your cool stuff.

Charge proper prices for your hard work!

When you go to print your #TTRPG remember that you need to charge at least about 6x the cost to print for sustainability.

Small to midsize publishers can take advantage of scale & you can't.

You are not Wizards, Evil Hat, Exalted Funeral, or Modiphius.

Ideally charge 10x an pay a bill.

89 years ago, on the 4th of October 1936, antifascist counter protesters stopped a British Union of Fascists march through London’s East End. The Metropolitan Police tried to clear the way for the fascists resulting in violent clashes known as the Battle of Cable Street. #otd #history 🗃️
The mounted police conduct a charge against the dense crowd to clear the way to Cable Street.

My personal rules to make Wordle fun:

* You must aim for a unique first word, that no one else playing that puzzle has used. (I've only managed it a handful of times!)
* All guesses must be valid options based on the letter info you have.

Anyone else got their own house rules?

Jesus. Sorry to hear it! Take it easy, yeah?

Great call. It's already on my list!

(I'm also biased, I helped out with core development for the game 😅)

Weird. Who'd have thought?

Lovely ttrpg folks, can you help me research a thing?
I'm looking for ttrpgs that have offered free playable prologues / quickstarts / previews / demos.

I'm not after *complete free rulesets* - specifically, games which have a full version, but did a downloadable "try this out" type thing.

Thanks!

Oh god I'm halfway through a run

What was I even doing

I'm gonna play Balatro

You should too
jamesmakesgames.bsky.social
ADHD is crazy.

I just spotted Balatro on my phone and realised I'd entirely forgotten about its existence.

A month ago I was playing it every chance I had.

A few days ago I literally remember thinking "it's weird I don't have any games on my phone any more". I'd just... Blanked it. Completely.

Tactical Breach Wizards is the obvious next step. All three are fantastic!
jamesmakesgames.bsky.social
I just don't know if that's true.

We should establish the answer with a series of rigorous and increasingly elaborate tests!
jamesmakesgames.bsky.social
I'm honestly astonished that the same can't be said for mine. I generally have awful taste. What gives??
jamesmakesgames.bsky.social
I still regularly play two of these, maybe three 😅

The main result of Thunderbolts changing its name is that it's brought to light how many people get asterisk and Asterix mixed up.
