I’ll always remember you this way, bebe.
Clayton “Can’t Perform in October” Kershaw kneeling behind the Wrigley Field pitcher’s mound, staring toward the bleachers and begging for sweet relief after giving up an absolute rocket home run off the bat of Anthony Rizzo (the second HR Clayton had allowed and the 5th run of the night) in game 6 of the 2016 NLCS. His ugly mouth is agape and he can’t believe he sucks this hard every year once the calendar turns over from September. He is wearing the traveling gray Dodgers jersey and a Dodger blue cap with the postseason logo on the side. Our POV is toward the third base line and behind Clayton, we see an out-of-focus sea of fans in Cubbie jerseys and apparel. Third base coach, Gary Jones, can also be seen standing in the background.

Kershaw had nothing in the seventh, so Roberts lets him pitch the eighth.

Eat shit, Clayton.

I also think that most consumers who buy into a consumer co-op are more likely to be community-minded and in favor of operations that tilt toward the interest/benefit of the workers (at least initially). Which is why I think this whole situation feels like more of a betrayal.
jamesonchi.bsky.social
Pedantic in the sense that the type of co-op is specified in less visible mission statements, etc, while the more visible branding leans into the opposite kind of co-op. Not that you specifically were being pedantic by pointing it out. I think we are more/less aligned that union busting=bad, no?
jamesonchi.bsky.social
So I just need to be clear, that I think union busting is bad, and that what REI is doing in closing unionized stores is bad. And that engaging in union-busting while calling yourself a co-op, regardless of the important-but-pedantic-minutiae of the *type* of co-op—all of that is also jfc-level bad
jamesonchi.bsky.social
Yeah, but if the name of the brand has Co-Op right in there all the time, it feels pretty intentional to make people think of the “good for workers and community” co-op. So union busting still kinda goes against that brand work, I’d say.

If I was in the ballpark, I’d never consider leaving—but if I was watching at home, I’d probably turn it off. (Not a yankee fan btw, just imagining the cubs doing the same thing tomorrow)

EVERY single REI store should unionize immediately. Then let's see them try that.

I worry that my post is getting shared for the wrong reason, because my frustration is that if the co-op (consumer or otherwise) is engaging in union busting, that’s unbelievably frustrating and jfc where can I buy anything anymore without somehow damaging the labor union movement

Unrelated to anything that just happened near the RF stands anywhere, but completely unknown are the whereabouts of Kyle Schwarber’s home run ball from Game 4 of the 2015 NLDS. All we know is that it 100% did not land on top of the RF video board at Wrigley Field. This is the hill I will die on.

In my opinion, this is exactly the kind of thing they’re *trying* to take from us, so I have started to actively try to enjoy things almost as an act of defiance. Because otherwise I won’t have the energy or mindset to do anything productive. (Not my original thought, btw. Read it somewhere smart.)

PCA putting down that bunt could really turn things around for him at the plate, even though it was for an out—because he was trying for a hit. And now pitchers have to think about that again.

The Chicago Cubs—known as the cubbaroos when they play like this—simply do not have a real dangerous hitter. Let alone the many dangerous hitters one would need

Well Personal Reasons has been as lost at the plate as, well, someone who doesn’t have enough blood pumping to their brain I guess

C’mon, Personal Reasons (Matt Shaw). Stop thinking about Charlie and do some baseball. Or o guess yknow what? Do better baseball for Charlie. Whatever gets you to be better at baseball points.

My favorite part of this article is when the scientists “whisk[ed] back to land for processing in their AIRBNB” (emphasis added)

Like, why did it have to be branded lodging?

To help slow climate change, researchers are trying to redirect the microbes' appetite to the hundreds of millions of tons of methane emitted each year from oil and gas sites, livestock, and wetlands. Similar work is being done on CO2. But it's complicated: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/c... (gift). 🌎

I mean it’s preseason, but as long as the LeaguePass app is in mid-season form (captions that won’t turn off), I might as well get hyped about the pacers 1st quarter

I haven’t seen a single entry in the Halloween franchise.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

If the Yankees come back in this game, or this series, I think we will look back at the decision to voluntarily remove a pitcher from their no-hitter as the impetus. We have become too pragmatic in sport
jamesonchi.bsky.social
I will never officially support removing a pitcher during an active no-hitter because of pitch count

And ofc all the caveats

We still have to fight. Just because this regime will fall doesn't mean they can't cause massive damage in the meantime.
