This is a really important article, co-written by settler scholar Leon Laidlaw and Fallon Aubee, a Metis Two-Spirit survivor of both day schools and prison incarceration. I'm particularly blown away by the study showing that of the 99 gender-diverse incarcerated people studied, HALF are Indigenous
Trans prison policies aren’t just about gender—they are about Indigenous rights | Xtra Magazine
Trans-affirming prison policies are being revoked in parts of Canada and the U.S. We need to protect Two-Spirit and trans people in prisons

Grateful to attend the #SHEAR2025 Annual Meeting (my first!)

I'm presenting a counter-history of "contact" as experienced by Indigenous trans women along the "Western frontier." And always-forever sharing my fav history fact: Indigenous trans womanhood is at least 4,500 years older than the USA.

There are less trans woman History Professors in the US than I have fingers on one hand, and one of them was just FIRED 🚨

Why? Anti-trans alumni/donors threatened to pull support form the university...

My review of A Short History of Trans Misogyny is out now @ucpress.bsky.social! 📖

TL;DR It is the book we've been waiting for &, as usual, JGP doesn't disappoint; however, her extreme temporal limits necessitate stating - trans misogyny was centuries in the making by the C19

The FBI is now going after trans people and their healthcare. Today it's gender affirming care, tomorrow abortion. This is the authoritarian playbook on display.
A tweet from the official FBI Twitter account dated June 2, 2025, reads: "Help the FBI protect children. As the Attorney General has made clear, we will protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of gender-affirming care. Report tips of any hospitals, clinics, or practitioners performing these surgical procedures on children at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov." The tweet has 106K views.

I would sooo value that, thank you! It's the chapter we've talked about once or twice before, building off a literature review of the historiography from late 19th C to early 21st C. Once I get comments on my first revision I'll reach out :)
