Random thing, but I did not know that we owe 'jaywalking' to the wonderful auto-industry.
Apparently it's from early 20th century US. The car industry used it to blame pedestrians for accidents (a jay was a cluelessly bumkin, so the accident is their fault, not the car/driver's...)

Islamabad denies launching strikes across northern India as Pakistani military says it will ‘not de-escalate’
India has accused Pakistan of launching an attack with up to 400 drones that targeted cities, military bases and places of worship across the north of the country on Thursday night, as the Pakistani military said it would “not de-escalate with India”.
India claimed to have intercepted hundreds of Pakistani drones, which it said came across the border into Indian-controlled Kashmir, as well as Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat. It said a first wave of drones came on Thursday evening and another wave hit close to dawn on Friday. Continue reading...

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
